Hand-Painted Armoire Furniture Limoges Box

A tall French armoire, the sort of wardrobe that anchors a country bedroom, is reproduced here in porcelain. It is a hand-painted Limoges box made in Limoges, France, with the armoire itself forming the box.

Behind the Wardrobe Doors

In many French homes, the armoire was the most important piece of furniture a family owned, sometimes given as part of a bride's dowry. This miniature brings that tradition down to the size of a dressing table accent. Its decoration is painted by hand, so each finished armoire differs slightly from the others.

Furnishing a Tiny French Room

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Suits a miniature furniture, dollhouse or French country grouping
• Pairs with love seat, chair and vanity pieces

Bedroom Dresser Charm

It fits naturally on a bedroom dresser, a vanity tray or a guest room nightstand. Give it to someone who has just moved into a new home, a friend who adores antique French furniture, or a newlywed couple setting up their first bedroom. Collectors of miniature furniture often start a little room with a piece like this, then add seating and tables around it.
