Pink Cockatoo Parrot Bird Limoges Box

A pink cockatoo in soft rosy tones is the subject of this porcelain box, a tropical bird brought indoors to the shelf. The bird was painted by hand in Limoges, France, where this porcelain Limoges box was made.

Tickled Pink in the Tropics

Cockatoos are known for their crests, their chatter and their long lives as pets, and the pink kinds are among the most striking. This box captures that color in porcelain, where it stands out among the browns and blues of a typical songbird collection. The feathers are shaded by hand, so each bird has a slightly different look.

A Bird in the Curio Cabinet

It is a natural choice for someone who keeps a pet parrot or cockatoo, a bird watcher back from a trip to Australia, or a veterinarian who cares for exotic birds. Place it on a sunroom shelf, a bright windowsill or a curio cabinet, where the pink can catch the light. Bird collectors often look for color variety, and this one fills a gap few other pieces do.
