Seaside Beach Cabana Hut Limoges Box

A bright little beach hut, the sort that lines the sand at a seaside resort, stands on its own as this porcelain piece. It is a hand-painted Limoges box made in Limoges, France, with the cabana itself forming the box and vivid colors brushed across its walls.

Changing Huts and Sea Breezes

Beach huts are a happy sight on many shorelines, where rows of them are painted in cheerful colors. This one captures that summer feeling in a single small building. Since each box is decorated by hand, the colors and lines differ a touch from one hut to the next.

Summer Without the Sand

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Anchors a beach, seaside or summer travel grouping
• Pairs well with beach chair, seashell and sailboat pieces

Postcards From the Shore

Give it to the friend who spends every August at the coast, a couple who just bought a beach cottage, or someone counting down to retirement by the water. It looks right on a sunroom shelf, a bathroom vanity or beside framed vacation photos. Small porcelain boxes became fashionable in eighteenth century France for holding snuff and pills, and a bright cabana carries that old tradition straight to the shore.
