Teddy Bear Sitting on a Blue Book Limoges Box

A teddy bear has made himself comfortable on top of a blue book, as if waiting patiently for story time to begin. This sweet scene is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box from Limoges, France.

Once Upon a Blue Cover

Books and bears belong together in the happiest memories of early life, from bedtime stories to reading in a blanket fort. The blue book gives this piece a calm color, and the bear on top adds instant warmth. Both are painted by hand, so each piece carries small differences.

Chapter and Verse on the Shelf

• Hand-painted porcelain made in Limoges, France
• Fits a teddy bear, reading or nursery collection
• Pairs well with the bear on a math book and other storybook pieces

For Readers Young at Heart

This is a lovely keepsake for a new baby, especially in a family of readers, and a thoughtful thank-you for a librarian, a story time volunteer or a reading teacher. It also suits an author celebrating a first book, or a book club member's birthday.

Set it on a nursery bookshelf, in a reading nook or on a desk in a library. Families often keep a first library card or a note from a favorite teacher tucked inside, so the box gathers memories as the years go on.
